The inscription on the present lot suggests it was made as a gift for Jitang. The name appears to reference the Qing dynasty official Shen Yefu (1732-1807), zi Jitang, hao Weideng laoren; hence the inscribed bingzi date would be corresponding to the year 1756, which would be two years after Shen passed the imperial examination and was selected to study at the Hanlinyuan (Hanlin Academy) as a Shujishi.
