with a mottled-blue and brown glazed body, applied in high-relief with a crisply-modelled central snake attacking a small green salamander, as well as a small frog and a snail, the rim applied with ferns, leaves and small shells, incised signed F Maurice

François Maurice was a contemporary of Thomas-Victor Sergent and had a workshop at 20 rue de Basselins, Paris. He included his pottery works in the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889.
