A rare silver presentation kovsh, Moscow, 17th Century


Of traditional form with chased winged horses interposed with hearts, the finial on the prow formed as the imperial double-headed eagle, the handle cast and chased as a bird, the rim inscribed 'By the Grace of God, The Great Lord Emperor and Grand Duke Alexis Mikhailovich of all Russia, the year 1663', apparently unmarked

length 17cm, 6 5/8 in.
