painted and gilt with berried laurel festoons, trophies and centred by classical urns, comprising: a large lozenge-shaped dish, 32.5cm. wide, 12 3/4 in., a pair of two-handled tureens and covers, a pair of kidney-shaped dishes, a pair of shaped octagonal bowls, a scalloped dish and six plates, gold anchor and D marks

Probably Douglas Hamilton, 8th Duke of Hamilton (1756–1799) who succeeded his brother, the 7th Duke around the time of manufacture of the present lot;
