Edo period, 19^th century 

the rectangular cabinet with two doors opening to reveal four variously sized rectangular drawers, decorated overall in gold, silver and red hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, nashiji, gyobu nashiji, hirame and gold foil and inlaid in gold and silver, with a terrace beside a stream and an overhanging pine tree, the landscape scenes continuing onto the sides, the interior of the doors decorated with plum blossom and a cart alluding to scenes from the Tale of Genji, nashiji interiors to the drawers, engraved silver fittings and two loop handles
