A celadon glazed figure of a rakan
Edo period, late 18th century
the hollow-moulded figure modelled as a bearded and emaciated old man, seated on a stump with one leg raised and the other folded, a frog resting in his lap, the flowing draped robes decorated in a pale green celadon glaze, the face, chest, arms and legs enamelled on the biscuit body in red and brown, the head with lacquer detail
