the rounded rectangular boxes with flush fitting covers and silver mounts, decorated in coloured cloisonné enamels on a green ground and worked in various thicknesses of silver wire, with Jurojin holding a staff standing beside a white stag, the interior with silk brocade lining with the Kotobuki [good luck] character and other auspicious symbols, the bases with a gold wire seal HayashiTani[goro]

Jurojin is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune (Shichifukujin) and the god of longevity. He carries a scroll tied to his staff, on this is written the lifespan of all living things.
