An early and rare view of Sydney, showing the North Shore, Neutral Bay, Milson's Point, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, Balmain, Ball's Head, Berry Bay, and Parramatta River.
John Paine (1833-1908) was a commercial photographer who specialised in views of Sydney and the Blue Mountains. Paine showed his photographs worldwide and was awarded medals at the Sydney International Exhibition 1879, the Calcutta International Exhibition 1883-4, the Colonial and Indian Exhibition London 1886, and the International and Colonial Exhibition Amsterdam 1883.
