the bodies and covers painted with gilt and red tendrils enclosing fans, phoenix birds and peonies in underglaze red and blue, the silver rims flat-chased with scrolling foliage and diaper on matted grounds matched on cover caps, bud finials, the borders of deeply chased guilloche, with openwork silver straps of trailing flowers parting from a shell-headed cartouche, fitted with pewter inner covers for use as tobacco jars

marked with French countermark for Paris, 1726-32 on bases, cover rims, and tops
