VENETIAN SCHOOL, 16TH CENTURY | THE DESCENT FROM THE CROSS

The nervous energy and vibrancy of the brushstroke, the elongated figures, especially that of Christ, and the bright colours tempered by thick varnish – these characteristics are clearly typical of Venetian painting of the sixteenth century and in particular evoke the work of Andrea Schiavone.

Le caractère nerveux et vibrant de la touche, les canons allongés des figures et notamment du Christ ainsi que les coloris vifs, atténués par un vernis épais, renvoient bien évidemment à la peinture vénitienne du XVIe siècle et ne sont pas, en particulier, sans rappeler l’art d’Andrea Schiavone.
