The arms on one side are those of Major impaling Dale, for Sir John Major, Bart of Worlingworth Hall, Suffolk and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Daniel Dale, of Bridlington, co. York, quartering Chandos. The arms on the other side are those of Brydges with Dale in pretense, for James, 3rd Duke of Chandos, Marquess of Carnavon, Earl of Carnavon, and Viscount Wilton, Baron Chandos of Sudeley, de jure Lord Kinloss, b. 1731. Among many positions, he was M.P., P.C., and Lord Steward of the Household 1733 until his death 1789.
