Description

Property from the Estate of Patsy R. Taylor

Nayarit White Slipped Female Figure, Lagunillas Type E

 Protoclassic, circa 100 BC - AD 250

Height: 11 1/2 in (29.2 cm)

Gray and Patsy R. Taylor, Greenwich, acquired by 1971
Kneeling in a deep trance, her lower lip pulled in, this figure's eyes barely open as she emanates an aura of serenity. Her cheeks are marked by painted red marks and incised tattoos, her finely striated coiffure radiates above, and her naked body bears a pronounced navel while her hands rest on her stomach. She wears a delicate necklace with two pendants and string loincloth, her body is covered in a creamy slip.
