The first, • white enamel dial with French day of the week and outer date ring, signed Et Tavernier • reverse dial, with aperture for moon-phases, ages indicated on sector above, scrollwork engraved reserve below • gold case with milled bands
the second, • white enamel dial, date ring advanced by the pendant• gold case with opaque blue enamel heightened by discs of translucent white enamel • together with a gilt-metal calendar key, circa 1800 • silvered dial with day in German

Etienne Tavernier was born in Paris in 1756 and became well known for his bracelet and ring watches. He supplied Breguet with watch cases and keys and also worked for R. Robin. Tavernier was also a maker of snuff boxes.
