Compare related mid-Qing dynasty examples of standing goose-form waterpots, illustrated in Yang Boda, ed., Zhongguo yuqi quanji [The Complete Compilation of Chinese Jades], vol. 2, Shijiazhuang, 2005, pls 291-2. A further example attributed to the 18th century, with a later cover and without lotus, was sold in these rooms, 20th March 2012, lot 228. See also one attributed to the 18th/19th century, from the collection of Phyllis and Walter Shorenstein, sold at Christie's New York, 24th March 2011, lot 1685. 

For a jade 'mandarin duck' group attributed to the late Ming dynasty, carved in a similar manner and also grasping lotuses in the beaks, see one from the collection of Joseph E. Hotung, exhibited in Chinese Jade Carving, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong, 1983, cat. no. 189. Another jade waterdropper in the form of a standing mandarin duck, attributed to the 17th century, is illustrated in Chinese Jade, Spink & Son, London, 1991, cat. no. 150.
