This type of yellow and green glazed zhadou is inspired by Ming dynasty vessels; for a Zhengde prototype, see one decorated with dragons and clouds, published in Jessica Harrison-Hall, Ming Ceramics in the British Museum, London, 2001, pl. 8:32. A closely related zhadou, also inscribed with a Jiaqing seal mark and of the period, was sold twice in our New York rooms, 15th September 2010, lot 399, and 15th/16th September 2015, lot 309.
