the high shouldered rounded body surmounted by a ribbed neck, covered entirely with a lustrous black glaze suffused with iridescent 'oil spots', the recessed base unglazed
Height 20.2 cm, 7⅞ in.
Acquired in Hong Kong in 1996.

Oil-spot effects on black glazes were only very rarely achieved on pieces other than tea bowls and cups, and are extremely rare on jars of this shape.
