8vo (192 x 130 mm). Frontispiece and 10 plates by Philip R. Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull, decorations by Charles Edward Hopper, title printed in blue and black, copyright in blue, leaf of publisher's advertisements at end. Publisher's green vertically-ribbed cloth, front cover with 3 decorated panels in red, black and white of sled dogs and sled with title in gilt between the panels; spine lettered in gilt with a pictorial panel in red, black and white depicting Buck, pictorial endleaves, top edges gilt; minimal wear at corners. Publisher's blue-gray dust jacket, with lettering and illustrations printed in green; spine and upper margin of front cover a trifle faded. Housed in a cloth clamshell box, with a 4 pp. advertisement leaflet for Macmillan, with a blurb for The Call of the Wild on the first page, laid in. 


First edition, first issue, in the scarce dust jacket. A fine copy of London's best-known novel, The story of Buck, a pampered dog who, after a series of adventures and mis-adventures, ends up leading a pack of wolves.
