4to (270 x 213 mm). 16 aquatint plates printed in sepia, 5 of which folding, hand colored plan of the Lakes of Killarney. Contemporary half calf and marbled paper covered boards, spine with semi-raised bands in six compartments, second gilt-lettered, others with repeat overall decoration in gilt, marbled edges, marbled endpapers.


A noted English work illustrated with aquatints


The beautifully printed aquatints in the present issue are tinted in sepia. Sir John Carr was an English travel writer from Devonshire whose books about travelling to Ireland, France, northern Europe, the Netherlands, Spain, and more places across Europe became quite popular in the early 19th century.
