A rare early travelers’ guide to the United States

"The map is from a discarded plate of H. Phelps' U.S. [1832]...The index is largely stolen from Mitchell's Traveller's Guide index sheet for 1832, however the information on roads and distances is taken from someone else...The map has the characteristic oval portrait of Washington, reengraved...from the Phelps issue. Webster put this together from Phelps, Mitchell and (?) and it is very scarce—I can find no references to it" (Rumsey).
