A celebrated member of Cuba's modernist Vanguardia movement, René Portocarrero drew frequently from mythological sources in his extensive oeuvre. Here, he presents a baroque portrait of the Roman goddess of Spring, Flora, bedecked in glimmering jewels and a lush hat.
