PARKING THE LUNAR ROVER. 22 APRIL 1972.
Vintage NASA “Red Number” chromogenic color photograph, “A Kodak Paper” watermark to verso. NASA image ID “NASA AS16-114-18439” printed in upper left margin in red; minor toning.
Inscribed and signed by Charlie Duke: "APOLLO 16'S 2ND EVA ON THE MOON! | CHARLIE DUKE | APOLLO 16 LMP | 4-22-72"; and on the verso: "FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION | CHARLIE DUKE"
10 by 8 in. (approx. 25.4 by 20.3 cm.)
The present image captures LMP Charlie Duke standing in the shadow of the LM, and behind the the ultraviolet camera, which was in operation at the time. Over 180 photographs and spectra in far-ultraviolet light were obtained during the mission, revealing clouds of hydrogen and other gases, and several thousand stars.
