This charming Angel's distinctive physiognomy is characteristic of the work of the Master of Anglesola, an anonymous sculptor named after a stone retable he carved around 1320 for the Church of Anglesola, near Lleida, which is now housed in the Museum of Replica Handbags s, Boston. The marble from which it was carved originates from the Pyrenees, a relatively short distance from Lleida, in whose surrounding area the Master's workshop was based.
