depicting an elegant couple in 17th century costume with pageboy in a luxurious interior, the background representing dark wood paneling framing a classical landscape tapestry with border of flowers, grapes and birds, tiled floors, on black marble base, mounted in deep molded ebonized frame with strut support

length of scene 10 in.; length overall 19⅜ in.

The same subject appears on another panel formerly in the Francis Cabell Brown Jr. collection, presently in a Massachusetts private collection, illustrated in Jeanette Hanisee Gabriel, Micromosaics, Private Collections, 2016, no. 52, p. 98. There a smaller version of the same subject, by Tarantoni, is mentioned, now in the Savelli Collection (Maria Grazia Branchetti, Mosaici minuti romani: Collezione Savelli, Ganglemi, Rome, 2004).
