Description

A JEWELLED GUILLOCHÉ ENAMEL PARASOL HANDLE, PROBABLY BY FABERGÉ, ST PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1900

of tapering bombé form, the surface enamelled in translucent emerald green over engine-turned waves above a seed pearl-set collar, rose-cut diamond finial, apparently unmarked

height 6.3cm, 2½in.

An identically shaped parasol handle, of tapering bombé form, that is also apparently unmarked, but housed in its original fitted Fabergé case formed part of the Kazan collection. Also included in the Kazan collection, was a cane handle marked for Fabergé and Michael Perchin, enamelled in the exact same vibrant green shade as the present lot (M. Ghosn, Collection William Kazan: Objets de Vertu par Fabergé, 1996, illustrated p. 211, no. 144 and p. 206, no. 135 respectively). Both works were sold as part of The Kazan Collection of Fabergé; Christie's New York, 15 April 1997, lots 128 and 129.
