the hilt with two marine-ivory grips, with gold-inlaid grip-strap featuring floral cartouches, the tapering watered-steel blade with flat back edge and gold-inlaid floral decoration at forte, swollen armour-piercing tip

The beautiful gold work on the blade of this kard is a fine example of 'Aftabi' decoration in which a thin sheet of gold is applied on the blade, forming a fine foliate design, for a comparable, see Hales 2013, p. 91, no. 210.
