Description

  • 10.9 cm, 4 1/4  in.
of circular section, the cover incised and painted in the qianjin technique and further detailed in tianqi polychrome enamels, decorated with a large carp emerging from turbulent waves against a diaper ground, the sides decorated with further wave motifs, the interiors and base lacquered red, the base with an apocryphal eight character Wanli mark

Condition

The red lacquer has been refreshed on the base and interior of the box and to the inside of the cover, some cracking and flaking to a circa 7cm., wide section of the rim of the cover, a 1cm., area of restoration to the rim of the cover and two short age cracks to the rim of the cover, a circa 3cm., rim crack to the base, a 3mm., rim flake to the box, a 5mm., rim flake and associated crack to the box and another circa 2cm., age crack to the rim,. a circa 15mm., area of restoration to the base of the foot and light scratches and wear.
