of rectangular form with lobed corners, the inscriptions inlaid with mother-of-pearl recording the teachings of Sima Guang, the reverse with the mark Jiajing gen yin nian zhi (made in the genyin year of Jiajing, corresponding to 1530), lacquered black, Japanese wood box
Condition
Several small area of restoration to the front, one to the lower centre measuring 2.5 x 2 cm., another to the upper centre measuring 8cm. long, both corner have been repaired with some touch up running along the upper right edge.
