Description

of slender cylindrical form with a concave base, the exterior finely carved in relief with a continuous tranquil waterscape depicting figures by a pavilion surrounded by overhanging rockwork and trees, incised with a poetic inscription, signed Zhu Xi, the bamboo patinated to a warm brown colour

Condition

This brushpot is in good condition but does have a (4cm) vertical split to the lower section that runs through the foot. There are also three small dark stains/burn marks adjacent to this. There is also a (2.3cm) split running from the rim and a couple of minor nicks to the rim.
