Condition
1. (Roeber): pastel on paper laid on board. The colours are bright and strong. This work is in good condition and ready to hang. Presented glazed in a decorative gilt frame.
2. (Hahn): unlined. There are scattered areas of fine craquelure, notably in the background, and there is some canvas undulation in the centre of the lower edge, probably due to some glue applied on the reverse. Ultra-violet light reveals some fine lines of retouching along the extreme framing edges and one spot in the lower right corner. The work is overall in good condition and ready to hang. Would benefit from some surface cleaning. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
3.(classical scene): the canvas has been relined. There are some spots of flaking and scattered spots of surface dirt notably in the right hand side of the canvas. Ultra-violet light shows no sign of retouching. This picture would benefit from cleaning. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with severe losses.
4,5,6: all three pictures have pronounced craquelure throughout and show signs of restoration when inspected under ultra-violet light. There are some visible dents and undulations in two of the canvases. Presented unframed.
