Condition

There is evidence of past worming throughout which has led to some losses including to the attributes in the Christ Child's hands and the Virgin's proper right foot and around the base. In addition, the Virgin's proper right forearm is lost, and there are a few further minor losses, including to the Virgin's veil on her proper left side, and to the Virgin's crown, and to the noses. The veil has been stabilised in areas with canvas. There is some stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, notably a slightly open but stable split running vertically across the chest and drapery of the Virgin. This split has been filled in at the chest. There are areas of loss to the polychromy throughout, and notably to the Virgin's face and the Child's chest. Aside from these points the condition is stable.
