Description

  • Anna Selbdritt
  • polychromed oak
  • Netherlandish or Northern German, circa 1600

Condition

Overall, the condition of the wood is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is minor stable splitting to the wood, consistent with the material, notably to Anne's proper left side at her arm and the book, and around the terrasse. There are a few minor losses, notably to St Anne's feet. The polychromy has largely worn and flaked, but attractive remnants remain around St Anne's and the Virgin's legs. There is minor evidence of past worming, notably to the underside of the statuette. There is some dark staining to the underside.
