Condition

This elegant cabinet on stand is in reasonable original condition. There are overall marks and scratches consistent with age and use, as well as traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active, and some light fading to the ebonised surface. The front drawers have been fitted on to an earlier body which shows the signs of having previously had locks. There are minor losses to the tortoiseshell veneer, notably to the border below the upper drawer on the far left. One drawer below with part of its ebonised border detached. There is some movement to the columns flanking the central door, which is lacking its statue. The interior with mirror glass with spread foxing and some losses to the silver. The chequered bone floor with some yellowing. The gilt-bronze figures on top, as well as the feet, with some movement and heavy tarnishing. The stand, sound and sturdy, with minor marks, scratches, areas of light discolouration and traces of old woodworm which appears to be no longer active. The mounts are tarnished as consistent with age; the two stone mounts on the left side with some movement.
