Condition
The copper plate is set into a wooden ‘tray’ and is flat and stable. The paint surface has a dirty varnish but appears to be well preserved with no major damages. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a scattering of minor retouchings throughout, some of which appear very early in date, others more recent. There is a small restored damage in Joseph’s left eye, the restoration to which could be improved but otherwise the figures remain largely untouched. Offered in an ornate carved and gesso gilt wood frame in fair condition.
