Condition
Each work is in excellent original condition. Some scattered nicks and small losses to the extreme edges of each board. The surface of each is slightly dirty. Each board had previously been glued to a wooden panel directly and there are scattered areas of dried glued residue on the reverse of each, though in both cases the signature area is unaffected. Each work retains richly textured surface with extensive hand incising. Under UV, no inpainting is apparent on either work.

Catalogue Note
In these calligraphically powerful compositions from 1972, Miró explores the subversive potential of his established lexicon of signs and symbols. His highly graphic renderings pay little regard to defining any subject, and the visual planes are instead purely vehicles for the artist's emphatic application of black pigment. The gesture is not unlike the tag of an urban graffiti artist, where the economized, bold mark is the unmistakable calling card of a complex artistic persona.
