Original canvas. The canvas is loose on its stretcher and undulates in places, but otherwise appears sound. There are pinholes apparent in both the lower corners and in the upper right corner, thought to be in keeping with the Artist's working method, and with some very small flecks of associated loss. There are some very fine lines of craquelure apparent in isolated areas. There are one or two light specks of surface dirt. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition, with strong and vivid colours throughout. Ultraviolet light reveals some small spots of fluorescence at each of the four corners, the centre of the lower edge, to the blue pigment at the centre of the upper edge and to the centre of the left edge, which may be in keeping with the Artist's materials.
