  • gold, ivory (Miniature), paste
  • 9.8cm., 3 5/8 in. wide
shaped rectangular form, the lid inset with an earlier miniature, circa 1835, of a lady with dark hair, wearing white dress and paisley shawl, faded, in a paste-set frame between six larger collet-set pastes, the ground applied with scrollwork on matting, the sides and base engraved with floral scrolls and applied in relief with further foliage, maker's mark, assay master Alexander Mitin (1842-1877), 56 standard
