Condition

The cow's right horn is lacking and its right ear has been re-stuck. There is some minor sympathetic restoration to the tip the left horn, the cow's tail which could be a replacement and the brim of the boy's hat.

Catalogue Note

An example of this rare model from the property of the late Otto and Magdalena Blohm, was sold in these rooms, 24th–25th April 1961, lot 375, illustrated by Schmidt; and Kessler-Slotta, op. cit. Schmidt attributes the group to the modeller Laurentius Russinger, who worked at the factory between 1767-68, having previously been employed at the Höchst factory. The similar Höchst model of this group is illustrated by Kurt Röder, Das Höchster Porzellan, Mainz, 1925, p. 69, taf. 69b, no. 372.
