- signed l.r.: Denys Dawnay fecit; and inscribed on the reverse: My Darling Debo. One day last year Stout heard you say that you would have to go to London for a Court Ball. The idea filled him with melancholy for he knew that he would not be able to go with you: but that night as he lay on his straw he dreamt that a special invitation had been sent to him; and here you see him in his Court Dress turning Arthur Penn out. Unexamined out of frame. The sheet appears sound. There is some very minor surface dirt and studio detritus, but subject to the above the work appears in excellent overall condition, with strong, vivid colours throughout.
Housed behind glass in an ornate gilt frame, with the reverse showing.
