(Marco Meneguzzo, Oggetto, Superficie, Pittura, in Agostino Bonalumi, Edizioni Galleria Fumagalli, Bergamo, 2003)

“The fact that every piece is a way station in an artist’s career goes almost without saying: what may need to be said a little more, on the other hand, is that it is necessary to conceive each piece as a possible variant to a more extensive design, one whose plan includes endless tests, and that, at the moment when that single piece is made – or observed – the entire project is condensed into that one piece. In other words, we cannot observe Bonalumi’s work without ‘knowing’ about his research into space, while at the same t.mes we observe its formal and spatial result for the ability to concentrate within the perimeter that the artist chose for his entire thinking”.
