Condition

Original canvas, there are pin holes visible in the upper right hand corner. There is a tiny, very slight canvas undulation in the bottom lower right hand edge, with a resultant pin-head sized spot of loss, with a further, similar-sized spot of loss appearing to the centre of the cup in the lower left quadrant. There is a very slight horizontal stretcher bar mark along the bottom and centre, visible upon close inspection. There is a line of staining near the lower right corner, with a few further spots appearing elsewhere to the orange pigment. Elsewhere there is minor surface dirt and trace of light studio detritus visible upon close inspection, but this excepting the work appears in excellent overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals a couple of spots of fluorescence and possible light retouching to the extreme edge of the upper left corner, with further traces of fluorescence elsewhere to the composition, which appear in keeping with the nature of the Artist's techniques, and do not suggest retouching. Float-mounted against a white backing in a thin light wooden frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present lot.
