Churchill's second book, drawn from the subject matter of the fifteen letters the author wrote to the Morning Post as war correspondent attached to the 21st Lancers during Kitchener's campaign to reconquer the Sudan. This is the second state of the first printing with the corrected divisional half-title on p.459 of volume 2.
