- height 29cm, 11 1/4 in.
the oval bowls with a maroon trellis border centred with the crowned monogram of Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich (the future Emperor Alexander III), on baluster stems with gilt male masks, the bowl mounts chased and engraved with grape vines, the domed spreading foot set on an openwork gilt-bronze mount of scrolls and foliage, apparently unmarked
Condition
the top of the baluster-form stem of one tazza with areas of extensive chipping and loss and with a loose mount; all of the tazzi with some rubbings
to gilded areas of the porcelain consistent with age; the gilt bronze feet on two of the four tazzi would benefit from a professional cleaning. One with a painted inventory mark (?) on the underside of the bowl.
