Condition
This work is in generally good condition. It appears that the original canvas has been trimmed and mounted onto another piece of well-stretched canvas. Craquelure is present throughout the work; however, the paint layer does appear stable overall and a varnish is visible throughout the work. Paint loss is intermittently visible along the right edge. A minor dent/indentation to the canvas is present in the upper left quadrant. Under ultraviolet inspection, a varnish is visible. Additionally, in-painting is found along the edges of the canvas. In-painting is also concentrated within the boat in the lower left quadrant, and within and to the right of the Virgins cloak.
