Catalogue Note
The female mystic with a halo, dressed in pristine white, in shown on her knees possibly offering her evening prayers. She is visited by a group of angels, who have bought her offerings. The winged figures are dressed in colorful ornate garb, an inviting contrast to the otherwise monochrome colors of the background. The rock face depicted behind the mystic on closer inspection reveals a set of composite animal figures, a convention derived directly from earlier Mughal artistic tradition.
