Condition
The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals two old restorations: one circa 8 by 1.5cm in the dark pigments of the figure's dress, the second circa 4.5 by 1.5cm in the wall and sky to the right of the figure, and just a couple of tiny spots of retouching in the sky. This painting is in good condition and is ready to hang.
Held in a decorative gilt coved and fluted frame.
The painting is somewhat less red than in the catalogue illustration.
