Bears unidentified collects or's mark lower left: (CC (?), in blue-green ink within a circle, not in Lugt)

Condition

Laid down. Overall in good condition. There are a few brown stains in the lower right hand corner and a few small fox marks towards the upper half of the sheet. There is a horizontal crease running along the center of the oval just in line with the Saint's head. The medium remains fresh and strong and image still powerful. Sold in a modern 18th century style, gilded frame.

The present drawing does not appear to relate to a known painting.  However, a drawing of a similar type, also showing the Virgin and Child within a drawn oval, is in the Galleria dell'Accademia, Venice.1
