the  tapering  ovoid  body  rising  from  a  waisted  circular  foot  to  a  trumpet  neck, boldly carved around the body with peony blossoms borne on scrolling leafy vines, above a band of plantain leaves, the neck with two floral sprays between concentric ridges, the crackled glaze of a pale green tone

Provenance

Acquired in New York in 1955 and thence by descent.

Condition

The neck has been reduced. There are chips of various sizes around the rim edge. There is a 1 in. (2.5 cm) hairline crack running from the rim edge. There are scattered minor burst air bubbles, iron spots and light scratches. There is a glaze chip to the body approximately 1/4 in. (0.6 cm) and two small discolored firing tears to the body. There are firing tears to the base.
