Intervenant dans les rites communautaires de l'okuyi, ce masque Punu du Sud Gabon représente une entité dont l'image idéalisée rend hommage à la beauté des femmes et à leur importance dans le monde des esprits.
A l'intériorité de l'expression répondent les signes de beauté arrangés par la main de l'homme : face poudrée de kaolin dont la blancheur s'est atténuée avec l'usage, lèvres teintées de rouge, motif à douze écailles ponctuant le front et les tempes (rappel des clans primordiaux de l'histoire mythique des Punu) et coiffure d'apparat caractéristique, à coque axiale rembourrée, prolongée par deux chignons obliques. Belle patine, attestant sa longue utilisation.
