Catalogue Note

The two items in this lot are:

A: A fragmentary drawing of three princely hunt.mes n on horseback, Bundi, late 17th century. The general style and compositon of this drawing is very close to two Bundi paintings of hunt.mes n on horseback of circa 1660-1680, one sold in these rooms 23 April 1997, lot 11, the other illustrated in Falk 1988, no.13, pp.17-18. The face of the uppermost huntsman on the present drawing bears a strong resemblance to Rao Chattar Sal of Bundi (r.1631-59) and Rao Bhao Singh of Bundi (r.1659-82).
B: A horseman with an attendant and a dog, Marwar, 18th century; reverse with a horseman with a bow and arrow.
