Both panels have some vertical cracks. Loses of paint, mainly along these vertical cracks and along the borders. Good general condition.

The miniature style and highly accomplished painting of the two panels, with the gold background and the typical colour scheme dominated by ochre, intense red, rose and dark blue, follow the Cretan tradition.  The source of the composition of the icons is to be found in Byzantine Palaeologan painting.  A strong influence of the work of the icon painter Theophanes the Cretan, famous for his frescoes and icons at.mes teora and on Mount Athos, is discernable;  the iconography seen here relates directly to his Raising of Lazarus and the Entry into Jerusalem in the iconostasis from the Stavronikita monastery, dating from 1546.
